MAC - Honey Love Lipstick (Review) + OOTD

I've always been a bit put off wearing a nude lipstick, I guess I wasn't to keen on how 'pale' the face can look (I'm normally a bright pink lip sotra' girl)

Another problem I had with a nude lippy is because I have a warmer skin tone I always felt a nude lipstick can make me look washed out.

However, I had heard good things about MACs Honey Love lipstick.

Here's a picture of me wearing the lipstick ...

But how do we find the perfect nude shade?

1) A way to find a good shade is to swatch the lipstick on your wrist just under your palm, the shade should be 1-2 shades darker then the shade of your palm.

2) Beige tones can tend to wash the skin tone a lot, try a peach or pink toned lipstick which can give a warmer and brighter hint of color.

3) Don't have a nude lipstick yet? SIMPLE ... Just use a concealer which is also a few shades darker than your skin color, before applying it apply a lip balm to smooth out the lips as a concealer can sometimes be drying (MAC's prep + prime is a favorite of mine.)

ON ANOTHER NOTE :

I did say in my previous post I would show you what I matched my beloved city bag with and here it is ...

Please excuse the dirty mirror!

My OOTD for my internship interview. New Look blazer, ASOS dress, New Look boots from ASOS, Zara office city bag with River Island watch.

UPDATE - Haul & Interview.

Hi Guys!!

I've decided on doing these blog updates now and then when something interesting in my life is happening :)

First of all ... since working in London's Knightsbridge, iv'e learnt to acquire a certain designer taste that I never knew existed.

I am always drooling over ladies Hermes bags and CHANEL jewelery that I am so desperate to create a walk in wardrobe full of special gems!
But then I wake up and realize it's all but a distant dream ...

One item I have had on my mind for a while now is the beautiful Prada Top Handle in Black.

At whopping price of £1,250 I know it is most definitely a far away skin pinching dream. HOWEVER ... not all is lost in the world of bargain hunting. I found a Prada dupe that you may be aware of already.

Introducing the ZARA Office City Bag, RRP: £49.99. (Free delivery with order over £50, so I ordered a cute headband for the summer too.)

It's smooth to the touch and gentle on the eye ... IM IN LOVE WITH IT.

What's even more of an advantage is that I was unaware of the compartments inside, there are slots for your cards, a phone holder and a zipped pocket ... not to forget a whole compartment perfect for your laptop!

But the best news is yet to come ...

Tomorrow (21/03/13) is a very important interview, with a very important company for a very important internship. I don't want to give much away just yet, however, I will be taking my beautiful city bag along with me.

Keep in touch to see what i paired my city bag with and to find all the details on my interview.

MAX FACTOR - Eye Brightening Mascara.

RRP: £7.99 , Black Pearl (For brown eyes.)

I'm a big fan of 'eye brightening' mascara's as I have amber colored eyes, and anything that gives my eyes that hint of orange tone just get's me excited!

Usually, I will wear a mascara or eyeliner that enhances eye color  for brown eyes, the color green is a great one to use ... BUT THEN ... i saw it ... Max Factor - Eye Brightening, Tonal Black Volumising Mascara!!

It's a mascara that has been on the market for a while and the advertising for it didn't catch me as much as other brands (even the sales assistants didn't know what I was on about), I was shopping in boots and it just randomly popped into my head so I thought i'd give it a go.

How does it work?

"individually designed mascaras for each eye colour. Each mascara makes their glamour statement by brightening your natural eye colour whether it's Black Pearl (for brown eyes), Black Sapphire (for blue peepers) or Black Ruby (for green sparklers). The formula contains light reflective particles to add a subtle brightening effect, and gem-toned colour beads which customise the reflected light to enrich eye colour. The eye-enhancing formula has a black mascara base that wraps around each lash, working with the legendary Masterpiece ifX brush to give even, clump-free volume and definition."

How does it REALLY work?

Overall I felt the color of the mascara did help to brighten my eyes, If you compare the top left picture, one eye has mascara on and the other doesn't, the difference in brightness is quite clear.
The top right picture is of both eyes wearing the mascara, the eyes look bright and the lashes look clump free and long.
However, they are not as VOLUMISED as I would of liked! When looking at the brush on the bottom left you can see the bristles are not of a fabric texture and more sturdy, most mascara's with brushes like this help with length and distributing the product without clumping as it naturally combs the lashes, i found to get my desired volume I would have to wait for it to dry and re-apply.

BEAUTY TIP:

If you are looking for a volumising and dramatic effect mascara but still want your eyes to look brighter and pop, look for a mascara in a color that enhances your eye color.
The YSL SHOCKING mascara's are fantastic! Plus they're available in a range of colors that would reflect your eyes but still dry in black and not so much in color.
Click here for YSL Shocking Mascara.  (I'm a fan of Jade Black.)

I hope that helped and I would love to know what YOU think of the mascara :)

A Newbie blogger!

Iv'e clicked on the "start blogging" tab and i'm actually nervous! There are so many beauty bloggers out there which is what put me off starting all this, BUT, it's got to the point where I need somewhere to vent my opinions and beauty addiction somewhere, so this is the place :) I was thinking of starting a YouTube channel on makeup videos but kept putting it off, a blog would give me a good head start i think. Should I tell you more about what I do?? I will in my next blog ... an excuse to make me keep blogging! hahaha ... and if someone is actually reading this .. hello :)
